What It Is

What Is A Far Infrared Sauna?

Unlike traditional saunas that primarily heat the air around you, far infrared saunas use infrared heat waves designed to penetrate deeper into the body and gently warm you from the inside out.

This creates a deeper sweat at lower, more comfortable temperatures while supporting relaxation, circulation, nervous system calming, and the body’s natural detoxification pathways.

The Ultimate Gut Reset Combo

One of The Poop Doctor favorite ways to enhance colon hydrotherapy sessions is by doing a far infrared sauna session beforehand. It is not required, but it can help warm the body, relax the nervous system, soften tension, support circulation, warm the colon, and encourage deeper relaxation and release during colon hydrotherapy.

Step 1

Sauna

Warm the body, sweat, relax, and soften tension.

Step 2

Nervous System Exhale

Client Reassurance

You’re not dirty.

A lot of clients get embarrassed when they first see darker sweat because they think it means they are dirty. The Poop Doctor is here to reassure you that modern life exposes anyone to pollutants, plastics, stress, chemicals, and environmental toxins.

Many people believe far infrared sauna sweating may help support the body’s natural detoxification pathways. Everybody — and every body — is different, and individual sweat patterns vary.

Far infrared sauna therapy is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease. Individual experiences vary.

What To Expect

What Can I Expect During My Sauna Session?

Your session takes place in a private, warm, relaxing room designed to help your body finally slow down, sweat, and release. You’ll sit comfortably inside the far infrared sauna while infrared heat gently warms your body from the inside out.

The sauna is set for 30 minutes, but most people last closer to 20 minutes on average — and that is completely normal. The goal is not to suffer. The goal is to sweat, relax, and support your body.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers for first-time clients who are curious about infrared heat, sweating, privacy, hydration, and pairing sauna with colon hydrotherapy.

  • Is the far infrared sauna different from a regular sauna?

Yes. Steam and dry saunas warm the body from the outside in, heating the surrounding air which then warms the body. This is why some people can last hours in steam or dry saunas - the heat does not penetrate the body as easily. We have elite marathon runners, endurance athletes and ironmen/women who run 10 miles for fun who can barely last 20minutes in the sauna.

  • How is the far infrared sauna different from a full spectrum infrared sauna?

Our far infrared sauna is ONLY far infrared - not full spectrum. There is a filter that filters out the rest of the infrared spectrum. This allows the far infrared to penetrate deeper (about 3 inches, to the bone), which does not happen in a full spectrum sauna. That is not to say there aren’t benefits to the rest of the infrared spectrum, but for the deepest detoxification, a true far infrared sauna is what’s needed. This is why people will sweat black in our Far Infrared Sauna and not other Full Spectrum Infrared Saunas on the market. This is also why most people can only last about 20 minutes on average in our sauna - the sweat is fast, deeper, and more intense. A true cardio workout.

  • How many calories can I expect to burn in a session?

You will burn about 600kcal for every 15minutes of sweat in our sweat. That is equivalent to the same amount of calories you would burn running for about an hour - and it feels like it too!

  • I’m claustrophobic - can I still do the sauna?

Our sauna is a personal sized sauna - meaning it’s only big enough to fit you. That being said, your head is out and exposed and there are zipper holes for your hands to be out as well. Many of our clients who are claustrophobic are still able to experience the sauna because their hands and head are outside of it. We can’t predict how you will react, but please give us a heads up if you are claustrophobic so we can make you feel as comfortable as possible and offer alternative seating positions that may make you feel calmer.

  • I don’t like sweating or getting hot - should I still do the sauna?

You will sweat A LOT and you will get extremely warm within a very short period of time. We do not recommend the sauna for anyone who has any heat sensitivities or is using a pacemaker.

  • Why is some sweat dark?

What we describe as “black sweat” are heavy metals and toxins being detoxed via one of your greatest detox pathways - your sweat. Sometimes this sweat can look black, gray, green, or even yellow. Everyone is exposed to heavy metals and toxins. Sweating “black” is an indication that your detox pathways are open and you are healthy enough to push them out.

  • What if I don’t sweat black?

Black sweat is typical and we are actually more concerned when we don’t see black sweat, especially after several sauna sessions. This is usually an indication of a deficiency that is lacking in the detox pathway preventing you from pushing out heavy metals, as you normally should. Common deficiencies that may prevent you from sweating black can include minerals and iodine.

  • Can I combine this with colon hydrotherapy?

Absolutely, in fact The Poop Doctor prefers doing the Far Infrared Sauna immediately before a colon hydrotherapy session because it helps warm up and relax the colon.

  • How long is a session?

The sauna is set for 30 minutes, but most people last about 15-20minutes on average. In fact, very few people last the full 30 minutes. We have elite marathon runners and endurance athletes - ironmen and women who run 10 miles for fun - who feel they are done after 20 minutes. Your goal is to sweat for 5 minutes; once you start sweating, last at least 5 minutes. After the 5 minute goalmark is up, you can hang out in the sauna as long as you can tolerate it - just please know your own limits and don’t pass out on us!

  • Is it private?

Yes, this is an individual sauna that you are using in your own private room.

  • What should I do to prepare for the sauna?

You don’t have to bring anything as we will provide water and towels and we recommend being nude inside the sauna. If you would like to wear something during the sauna, you may bring an extra pair of clothes to wear. Otherwise, we recommend staying well hydrated, as you always should.

  • What should I do after the sauna?

We will give you towels to wipe down afterwards, but we recommend showering as soon as you can after the sauna and rehydrating with mineralized water.
