Hemorrhoids: Why They Happen
Let's talk shit... literally. Burning, itching, swelling or blood when wiping can feel alarming, but hemorrhoids are often your body's way of signaling something deeper with elimination, pressure, circulation or pelvic floor function.

- 😖 Itching
- 🔥 Burning

- 😣 Pain or pressure
- 🩸 Bleeding when wiping

We Look Deeper Than Numbing It
We look at hemorrhoids from a functional and mechanical perspective. Instead of just numbing them temporarily, we want to understand:
Why the pressure is happening
Why the tissue became inflamed
Why you're straining in the first place
How to stop the problem from repeating

The 4 Biggest Contributors
1. Straining and bearing down
Many of us were conditioned to sit and push instead of letting the body release naturally. Repeated bearing down puts excess pressure on the rectal veins.
2. Pelvic floor dysfunction
When the pelvic floor is weak, tight or uncoordinated, elimination gets harder. People compensate by straining harder, adding more pressure.
3. Chronic constipation
The longer stool sits, the more water is pulled out. Hard, dry stool creates friction, straining, irritation and swelling.
4. When nature calls, you don’t answer!
Repeatedly ignoring the urge to poop — whether you're too busy or avoiding public restrooms — can weaken your body's natural signals. The result? A greater risk of developing or worsening hemorrhoids.
Your body shouldn't have to perform a deadlift every time you poop.

Your Body Was Designed to Move
Prolonged sitting weakens circulation and support structures in the pelvic region over time. Hemorrhoids are especially common in people who:
- Sit for long periods
- Work desk jobs
- Drive frequently
- Have chronic constipation
- Live with chronic stress and tension
- Spend excessive time on the toilet

Stop Straining Completely
Only go to the bathroom when the urge is naturally there. Then relax and let your body do what it already knows how to do.
And if you’ve lost that natural urge to go, we’re here to help get things moving again.
Do not
- Hold your breath
- Push aggressively
- Force elimination
- Sit on the toilet scrolling for 20 minutes

Gentle Herbs Over Harsh Synthetics
Topically, we prefer formulas with tonifying and astringent herbs instead of harsh synthetic ingredients loaded with preservatives. Some of our favorites:
- 🌰 Horse chestnut
- 🌿 Witch hazel
- 🍃 Butcher's broom
- 🌳 White oak bark
- 🌾 Myrrh
Traditionally used to support
Vein tone, circulation, tissue integrity and inflammation balance.
Our favorite formula
This Horse Chestnut Cream combines several of these herbs into one fantastic topical blend.

Sometimes the Body Is Asking for Better Flow
Some traditional systems suggest a relationship between hemorrhoids and liver congestion or sluggish circulation.
The idea
When the liver becomes burdened or stagnant, pressure within certain venous pathways may increase, potentially contributing to protruding or irritated veins.
Less overload. Better flow.

It's Often Not "Just a Hemorrhoid"
Hemorrhoids can be a sign that:
- You're chronically straining
- Your elimination patterns need support
- Your pelvic floor needs strengthening
- Your nervous system is stuck in stress mode
- Your body is asking for better hydration, movement and flow
The good news? Your body wants to heal.
When you reduce pressure, improve elimination mechanics, support circulation and stop fighting your body every time you poop, things often improve dramatically.
