What Is Yoni Steaming?
Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming, is a traditional herbal wellness practice where warm herbal steam is directed toward the pelvic bowl and vaginal tissues while you sit comfortably over a steaming herbal pot.
The word “yoni” is a Sanskrit word traditionally used to describe the womb or sacred feminine space. This experience is designed to feel warm, nurturing, grounded, feminine, and safe.

Not Every Womb Needs The Same Herbs.
One of the biggest misconceptions about yoni steaming is thinking everybody receives the same steam blend. In reality, the herbs matter tremendously.
Herbs Are Selected Based On Your Body
Different herbs may be selected depending on cycle patterns, dryness, infection, stagnation, heat, tension, stress, postpartum recovery, discomfort, hot flashes, night sweats, excess moisture, or recurring patterns.
Different Herbs Do Different Things
Some herbs are moistening and hydrating, some are toning and strengthening, some are circulating and moving, some are drying, some are disinfecting, and some are calming and relaxing.
At The Poop Doctor, every steam session is customized specifically to where your body is at now.

The Experience That Changed My Mind
A few years ago, I found myself dealing with what I can only describe as the worst yeast infection of my life. Since I had already been researching pelvic steaming, I decided it was the perfect opportunity to finally experience the practice for myself.
I went into that steam session with very few expectations.
What happened surprised me.
I experienced significant relief from my discomfort immediately after steaming, and by the following day, my symptoms had completely resolved. And I mean - COMPLETELY.
For anyone who has experienced the relentless discomfort that can accompany a yeast infection, you can probably understand why that experience got my attention.
To be clear, yoni steaming is not a medical treatment for yeast infections, and my experience should not be interpreted as evidence that steaming cures or treats an infection. Vaginal symptoms can have many causes and should be appropriately evaluated when necessary.
But my personal experience was powerful enough to make me want to understand the practice on a much deeper level and sent me further down the rabbit hole of pelvic steaming. I continued studying the practice and ultimately became certified as a Peristeam Hydrotherapist so that I could offer a more thoughtful, individualized approach to my clients.
And that's one of my favorite things about this modality: your steam doesn't have to be the same every time.
Your cycle changes. Your stress changes. Your digestion changes. Your hormones, energy, symptoms, and needs change.
As the saying goes, we never step into the same river twice.
That’s why every yoni steam session at The Poop Doctor begins with you. Your herbal blend can be customized based on what your body is experiencing and what you're hoping to support during that particular session.
What started as something I dismissed as a social-media wellness trend ultimately became one of the traditional healing practices I was most surprised to discover—and one I’m now grateful to be able to share with my clients.

Women Deserve More Conversations About Their Bodies.
So many women grow up disconnected from their cycle, disconnected from their womb, disconnected from their intuition, and taught to suppress symptoms instead of listening to them.
Yoni steaming creates intentional space to slow down and reconnect. This is about more than steam. It is about nervous system regulation, body awareness, ritual, rest, feminine wellness, and listening to your body again.
Your body deserves care, warmth, and attention too.

Do Not Steam During Active Bleeding.
We recommend scheduling your steam before your cycle, after your cycle, or between cycles.

Consistency Matters.
If you are actively working on supporting cycle balance, pelvic wellness, womb healing, or hormonal support, we often recommend steaming once weekly, plus 3 days before and after your cycle.
This consistency allows the body to respond more deeply over time. If coming into the office that frequently isn’t realistic, home yoni steam kits are also available so you can continue your steaming ritual from home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Still wondering if it hurts, when to schedule, or how the herbs are chosen? These answers help first-time clients feel more comfortable before booking.
Can I steam while on my period?
No. We do not recommend steaming during active bleeding.
How are the herbs chosen?
Every blend is customized based on your symptoms, goals, and where your body is currently at.
Does it hurt?
No. The steam should feel warm, gentle, and relaxing — never painful.
How long is a session?
Sessions typically last around 20-30 minutes.
Can I steam if I don’t have any symptoms?
Absolutely. Many women steam simply for relaxation, toning, hydration, nourishment, and general feminine wellness support.
How often should I steam?
That depends on your goals, but many women steam regularly as part of ongoing self-care and cycle support. If you are trying to create significant changes to your cycle, we recommend steaming in the 3 days before your cycle, 3 days after your cycle, and weekly on non-cycling weeks.
Do you sell home kits?
Yes. Home steaming kits are available for women who want ongoing support at home. They can be purchased in office or online
Do you do pelvic steaming for men?
Not at this time, but we plan on introducing prostate and hemorrhoid steam formulas for men in the future.
Slow down. Warm up. Reconnect with your body again.
